I wrote about epigenitcs and how it may react to stressors which could cause or influence the appearance of autistic traits.

I watched on Nova last night as they showed some of the evidence for this possibility:

Getting a clearer view of this shows that genetics are rather stable giving the normal slow evolutionary action.
Epigentics is the reactive control responding to the environment in a much faster fashion.
This in my opinion provides a mechanism for the "Quantum Change" Darwin and others could not find.
The program shows how something as simple as a wheat harvest by our grandparents can have a profound effect on their descendants.
It also shows how we can effect the outcome of various disease conditions such as cancer.
